Datawind launches 3 budget range smartphones


DataWind, the maker of Aakash and UbiSlate tablets, has launched three budget range smartphones for Indian martket. They are PocketSurfer 5X (Rs. 3,999), PocketSurfer 5 (Rs.4,999) and PocketSurfer 3G5 (Rs. 6,499).

All the three devices come with 5-inch capacitive touch screen display (800 x 480 pixels) and are dual SIM devices.

The PocketSurfer 3G5 runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) and comes only in Black. It is powered by a dual-core 1.2 GHz Cortex A7 processor. This device comes with 5MP rear facing camera, front facing VGA camera and supports 3G connectivity. PocketSurfer 3GS supports major Audio/video formats and has integrated FM radio function. The PocketSurfer 3G5 has 4GB inbuilt memory and is expandable up to 32GB with microSD card. Battery supports 4 hours talk time and 2 days standby time.

The PocketSurfer 5 runs on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). It is powered by a single-core 1 GHz Cortex A9 processor. It comes with a 2MP Rear camera and a VGA front camera. Battery supports 3 hours talk time and 2 days standby time. PocketSurfer is available in White and Black colours.

The PocketSurfer 5X runs on Linux OS. It is powered by a single-core 1GHz Cortex A8 processor. Battery supports 3 hours talk time and one day standby time. PocketSurfer 5X comes with only front VGA camera and is available in White, Black and Blue colors. These devices are currently available on the company website.
